Aenictus sp

There are two distinct types of Aenictus ants in this location. The first more common type is slimmer and lighter in appearance and are faster runners. Aenictus wilsoni belongs to the second type. As typical of this genus, this species is monomorphic.

Of all the species documented here in this blog, Aenictus wilsoni is the most sensitive.

Polyrhachis furcata

Polyrhachis furcata is an average size ant (between 5 to 10 millimeters) with pronounced curving spines on the first (pronotum) and third (metanotum) thoracic segments and the petiole. This species is monomorphic and arboreal weaving a nest with ant silk and plant matter.

Pericapritermes semarangi

Pericapritermes semarangi.is one of the smallest species of the Pericapritermes genus. The bulk of this genus (of this location) has soldiers measuring around 6 millimeters (TL) and some larger (TL) than 6 millimeters. Less than a handful of species are smaller (TL) than six millimeters. The soldiers of this species measure below 5 millimeters (TL).

Schedorhinotremes sp3

This is one of the largest Schedorhinotermes species, the major soldier of this species measured at slightly over 8 millimeters (TL) is less than 1 millimeters shy of that of the common large fungus growing Macrotermes gilvus.
