Crematogaster

Crematogaster the acrobat ant. Crematogaster are a genus of pungent smelly ants most of which are aboreal. Many species of this genus weave a nest of paper-like silk but some live in the trunk and branches of trees. Many species of Crematogaster from this region (South Asia) are polymorphic while most are monomorphic. Some of the species especially the larger species are pungent smelling.

Crematogaster inflata. This species of the Crematogaster genus have enlarged metapleural gland filled with a defensive liquid that the ant releases when attacked.
