Pheidole Longipes

Pheidole longipes is found only in forest or very heavily wooded areas. Many species of ants and termites cannot survive outside of their tropical rainforest habitat. Unusual among Pheidole this species is shaped sort of like the cheetah of the Pheidole family, sleek and long legged but they are not particular fast running as the black crazy ant and the yellow crazy ants.

Like most Pheidole species this species has a dimorphic worker caste.

  1. How does the queen look like? I find this species similar to this one (http://www.ants-kalytta.com/Ants-Asia.html) which is a long-legged monomorphic ant. Look for the first product you can see, and you'll find it quite similar to the ants you are keeping. Alternatively, it could be the Pheidole sp in the same catalogue. Just scroll down and you'll see it.

The main identifying features between the two species should be the queen. So if your queen is fat and stout, it should be Pheidole you are keeping. But if it is not, I think the ants you keep are not Pheidole at all.
