Odontotermes sp8

This is a mound building Odontotermes species. Most Odontototermes species do not build mound nests, this is one species that does. The soldiers of this species measured at 6.5 millimeters. The head shape of this species is somewhere between those of 'type 2' and 'type 3'. The tapering (narrowing) of the head capsule width from back (posterior) to front (anterior) is greater than those of 'type 2' head shape but lesser than those of 'type 1' head shape.

Buniapone amblyops

Buniapone (previously Pachycondyla) amblyops, look like a cross between some Ponerinae genera with Leptogenys. This mid size ant measuring 8 millimeters hunts both alone and in packs. This species hunts as much below ground as it does above.
