Proceratium

Proceratium deelemani are small non agressive ants. The workers freeze and play dead when challenge by other ants. Their small size and slow moving nature make them into one of the less commonly (being less fit from the perspective of Darwinian Evolution) found. Found mostly in heavily forested areas, this genus survival is very dependent on the forest ecosystem that support a diverse spectrum of animal and plant life. Preying mostly on slow moving invertebrates, Proceratium use their sting as a primary weapon to secure food. They are mostly defenseless against aggressive ants and ant predators and their first under threat response is to play dead. They also use their sting as a secondary defense.
