This species of Odontotermes sp5 is slightly longer than a previous species (first species recorded in this blog) which I have tagged as sp1. But there are some notable differences. The head of the soldiers are stouter and shorter aside from narrowing towards the anterior. A unique pattern on the abdomen is also characteristic of the soldiers of this species. This pattern although randomly present is some other species is almost always the characteristic pattern on the abdomen of this species. The soldiers measured at 8.5 millimeters.

In these three photos (above) of this Odontotermes species the distinct appearing pattern on the back of the abdomen of the soldiers can be clearly observed.
