Anochetus are typically small ants.
A polygynous species that do not produce males yet sent our
females to start new colonies. This is the first polygynous species I came across in the last fifteen years, though I have previously collected polygynous species before (when I was still in my teens).
I have kept this species for
several years and collected hundreds of female alates,
starting new colonies with them never getting mated.
Anochetus trapjaw ant worker. This species is slightly larger than the typical Anochetus genus. Anochetus is also typically monomorphic and this species is too.
