Microcerotermes sp

Microcerotermes sp(04) is differentiate from the rest of this genus which are mostly arboreal, in that it nest in decaying wood on the forest floor, which could explain the tube shape head capsule narrow circular cross section keeping subterranean tunnels narrow as protection from predators.

The soldiers of this species has the most tubular head of all the species documented so far in this blog.

Unlike many species of this genus which build corridors up and down the trees (and also other man made structures) from their arboreal nests.

Polyrhachis sp(36) is a species that do not have prominent spines or thorns, particularly on the petiole.

Pheidole sp(19) is another small brown species. Relatively the minor workers of this species is large at three quarter the size of the major workers.

Cardiocondyla sp

This is a slightly larger (than the first posted in this blog) species of Cardiocondyla.

Cardiocondyla are typically polygynous monomorphic ants. The queens are slightly larger than the typical workers which is very similar to the Tetramorium genus in this location. Another feature very similar to Tetramorium genus in this location is that of colony size is generally small with a high proliferation of queens in each colony.

Leptogenys sp

Leptogenys sp03 is among one of the largest of the Leptogenys genus in this location. Mostly subterranean in their day time foraging, this species is of the second slower running, shorter limbs type.
